RVA Mural Project Identity

RVA Mural Project identity system. My favorite is the paint roller. The client wanted other options to the system that will be used for stickers, shirts, and other print collateral. The graphics reflect the dominant demographic of artists involved in the project. I'm glad that they are getting locals like myself involved with the project which has been focused on international artists.

Life Leave Me Alone Interview

Episode 63: Listening to Op Ivy While Playing Mario Brothers

I was interviewed by the amazing Matt Fisher on his podcast, Life Leave Me Alone. Early on I respond to a question about my early interest in comics. Please pardon my 6th grade self for being attracted to superhero comics because of violence and boobs. Doesn't reflect my current world view. You can check it out here.

"We’re graced today with the presence of imitable Richmond comics illustrator and design guru Bizhan Khobadandeh who recently released an allegory of the Iranian Revolution entitled Little Red Fish. We talk punk (duh), global politics (sure), and comics (omg)."

New Work: Goofy game controller faces

Illustrated these quick retro cartoon looking “one line” portraits. The choice of which systems to use wasn’t based on what I liked the most. They were based on how fun it was to play with the controllers. I also made more “realistic” looking portraits, but it just robbed the life out of the concept. Playing with different color schemes. Let me know which one you like best!

“Iran Man” Again, based on Persian geometric patterning complete with Persian cat and kabob powered weaponry with beard/mustache helmet design and tunic style garb from below the waist. The actual design looks more like he is wearing an amored dress. This is based off of the Persian immortal soldier’s dress.

"Experience the art storm that is… BARTKIRA! Featuring a selection of art from the massive project that has shaken Springfield to its very core!"

Bartkira is a community art project in which hundreds of artists from all over the world are collaborating to recreate all six volumes of Akira, replacing all the characters with the cast of the Simpsons.

Pod Cast: Little Red Fish and other stories.

I was invited to do this podcast with Making Comics were I chat about a few things. You can check it out here.

After hearing it again, there are a few things I stated that are incorrect. My apologies for that. I made a mistake on the city my friend Cody Miles lives in and I use the incorrect gender pronoun for Nong Toom a couple times.

The LIttle Red Fish is out!

My Little Red Fish comic is out digitally for now. It will be available in print October 11th! You can see a sneak preview here: LittleRedFishComic.com as well as purchase a digital copy here

I have a Little Red Fish art opening of original art, prints, and banners Oct 3rd. I will be tabling the event with all kinds of goodies including copies of Autumn Haynes amazing pinup illustration that you see above.

The exhibition will coincide with the Carnival of Five Fires.  The organizers of the event have done a great job, so now you have two reasons to go to Gallery5 (200 W Marshal St Richmond, VA 23220). The show starts at 7 and is bumping until Midnight.

The following day I will be at the Richmond Zine Fest with prints, skateboards, comics and more. The zine fest will be held October 4th, 11AM-5PM at Gay Community Center of Richmond (1407 Sherwood Ave, Richmond, Virginia 23220).

The Little Red Fish printed comic will be available October 11th, 11AM-5PM, at Sink/Swim's RVA's Comic Creator Expo! Also held at Gallery5. The expo will have a large list of talent tabling: prints, comics, crafts, art, and more.

NEW WORK: Kitty Meow Meow Comic

Came up with the idea for my daughter to write a comic that I would illustrate/print for her guests. Hope you like it. It was a blast to make!

PS Going to probably do stickers and cards or something too.
